Shadowmancer is a simple but effective high rank class that can dish out some intense magic damage (especially single target), At Circle 2 one of your aoes also gain a powerful damage over time effect like Warlocks Mastema.

Thaumaturge specializes in buffing you, your summons and your teams damage and defense while debuffing enemies to take increased damage. This is a powerful build that starts out quite strong from just your invested attributes and scales even better with gear.


Rating of Class 1-10 (my opinion):
Single Target: 8.5
Area of Effect: 6
Durability: 5
Solo: 7
Team: 8

Pros:
- Raid viable
- High Damage
- Scales well
- Amazing Utility
- Fairly low cost to be effective

Cons:
- Ranks 4-6 (Thaumaturge Ranks) are not the greatest solo, blessing and dungeons are your friend, and/or a find a leveling buddy, or just be patient leveling when solo.
- Deals significantly less damage to flying enemies with some of Shadowmancers skills.

Other:
- Flexible Rank 7 Class (See Below)
- No major strengths or weaknesses


Stat Distribution:

Full Spirit.

You can invest 0-50 CON if you wish to be more tanky, but this build scales incredibly well the higher your SPR is, and if you feel too squishy you can invest in a decent shield that will gain huge defenses thanks to Swell Right Arm or search for HG gear that has Con on it.


As mentioned above, rank 7 is flexible and can be changed with another class.

Sorcerer: Extra single target and cleave damage through its summons, and cat buffs that nearly every build will appreciate. Go this if you wish to deal significantly more damage and don't mind investing in a Boss Card for summoning.

Linker Circle 2: Two to three more targets linked with Joint Penalty (depending on if you slot Dandel gem or not), A new single target spell, and Spiritual Chains new attribute that causes you and allies to deal 15% increased magic damage. Go this if you wish to be more support and/or farm focused.





Skill Distribution:

You will notice that some circles don't have 15 points invested, that's because you can save points from the same class and invest them in the next circle.

Wizard:

1/15 Energy Bolt, Decent filler skill, not very powerful but not bad. Very fast cast animation and fairly low cooldown.

10/10 Earthquake, This skill is now instant cast and has a super quick animation, deals significant damage on its own, and will hit twice if the target is effected by Lethargy. Has an attribute that removes the knockdown too!

1/10 Lethargy, Lowers the targets Magic and Physical Attack by 1% per skill level, and causes it to take 35% more damage from magic circles (like Hail). Really powerful debuff even at level 1 for the damage boost.

5/5 Magic Missile, This skill received a huge buff by having better scaling and a super quick animation similar to Earthquake. Useful against a single target and even better against a group of enemies. Deals bonus hits if you have Thaumaturge's swell arm buff.


Remaining points can be spent into any combination of Wizards other abilities: Energy Bolt for better scaling, Surecast to apply to party members, Sleep for its Combo potential, Lethargy if you wish to lower hard hitting bosses damage, and Magic Shield if you wish to mitigate 20% damage for several hits.

All are good abilities and mostly depend on what content you may be focusing on and who/what you will be playing with.



Linker:

5/5 Joint Penalty, Links up several enemies together which causes any damage to be shared among each other. Very powerful skill that sadly got nerfed but is still quite strong. You want to use your hardest hitting skills after you link like Shadowmancers Shadow Thorn.

5/5 Hangman's Knot, Can only be used on targets effected by Joint Penalty, causes them to be stacked up together and roots them. Good for following up with hard hitting aoe.


Thaumaturge:

15/15 Swell Left Arm, Powerful group buff that increases everyone's Physical Attack and Magic Attack that scales with your Spirit and Int, one of the major reasons you go Thaumaturge. Has an attribute that increases your summons patk and matk by 10% when cast.

10/10 Swell Right Arm, Powerful group buff that increases everyone's Physical Attack and Magic Attack if wearing a Dagger or Physical Defense and Magic Defense if wearing a Shield. This also scales with your Spirit and Int, another reason why you go Thaumaturge. Has an attribute that increases your summons patk and matk by 10% when cast.

5/5 Swell Brain, Thaumaturge's final group buff, it increases your groups Int and Magic Attack that scales off your Spr.
Always cast this before the Swell Arm skills.

1/1 Reversi, A pretty straight forward utility skill, but can be quite powerful in certain situations. It turns enemy magic circles (like Heal tiles for example) into friendly magic circles.

6-7 Shrink Body, 6 Points for 6 targets and 11 second duration.

7-8 Swell Body, 8 Points for 7 targets and 13 second duration.


Sorcerer:

5/5 Summoning, Summons a demon that will attack for you, scaleswith Spirit and Weapon damage. Since we are only Circle 1 you will not be able to ride it. Marnox, Netherbovine and Templeshooter are all great auto attack summons. Make sure you buff with your Swell Arm skills AFTER you summon your minions.

1-4/5 Summon Salamion, Another summon that will attack for you and scales with Spirit and Weapon damage.
Summon lasts 5 minutes.

1-4/5 Summon Familiar, This skill was changed, now summons a static amount of bats and now scales with Spirit.
Additional points lower the cooldown of the spell.

5/5 Summon Servant, Summons a cat that buffs all nearby party members, the notable buffs are the 5 bonus Aoe Attack Ratio and bonus SP Recovery. Costs 2000 Silver to cast, generally only used when doing dungeons, challenge mode or raids.


Other Rank 7 Choice (Linker Circle 2):

10/10 Joint Penalty, 3 more targets linked (2 if you had the Joint Penalty monster gem as a Circle 1 Linker or Divine Might) with 2 more hit count. Great for farming materials in Hunting Grounds with Swell Body.

5-10/10 Hangman's Knot, 1 second duration longer.

5/5 Spirit Shock, Tethers yourself to a target enemy and deals damage over time, short cooldown. Its a little mediocre at Circle 2, but its still a decent enough spell.

5/5 Spiritual Chain, Kind of a niche skill to be honest but useful with the right people, it causes very limited buffs to be shared between party members (Running Shot is one of the few good ones). Also has an attribute that increases all linked allies magic damage by 15% if the skills level is 5.


Shadowmancer:

15/15 Shadow Thorn, Single target Tactical Nuke with 4 overheat and very short cooldown, no seriously with the Stepping Shadows attribute this skills damage is insanity.

15/15 Shadow Conjuration, Wide cone attack with 2 overheat and a short cooldown, with the Shadow Trap attribute it causes it to deal damage over time like Mastemas Phantom Pain attribute.

1/15 Shadow Pool, Situational skill that can be used to avoid damage or keep you alive a little longer, one point is good enough.

1/15 Hallucination, Summons a perfect copy of you that has 20% of your Hp and takes damage in your place, one point is good enough here but can be worth investing more into until rank 10 comes out.

8/10 Shadow Condensation, When used causes nearby targets and installations to spawn an shadow orb above them and after 3 seconds they explode dealing damage. Great spell on large packs of enemies.

5/5 Infernal Shadow, Rips out a copy of the target in the form of a shadow and can be attacked, linked, and aoe'd, any damage applied to the shadow is also applied to the original target. Very powerful when targeted by aoe during Joint Penalty.

hey, i've returned to the game recently and I couldn't advance to wizard c2 (no quests... nothing... the button advance was just greyed out) so I just went wizard - sorcerer, cause linker was also not possible to advance to. i wonder, was that a bug?

@asgard Quick Cast doesn't do anything for the build, its kind of useless, and Joint Penalty is quite good with Infernal Shadow.

No idea why its doing that, for some reason its only happening to shadowmancer c3, ill see if I can fix it later, but for now: Shadow Thorn 15, Shadow Conjuration 15, Shadow Pool 1, Hallucination 1, Shadow Condensation 8, Infernal Shadow 5.

Hi Valkoria, im in love with my character, right now im wizardC2,LinkerC1,ThaumaC3,SorcerC1, im in love with sorcerer, and i want to know if i can go sorcerer 2 and shadowmancer 1, and when Rank 10 come i take shadowmancer2.

im using this character to farm alone or with my friend, im using Gorkas and it's fun but i would like to use is others Skills.

Soon i will be able to choice shadowmancer, or Sorc C2.

Any build with Thaum + Linker is pretty good at farming, but a Featherfoot would be better for farming, however Featherfoot is not for everyone and I don't know if you would like it or not, it has a unique play style compared to most other wizard classes.

Hi Valkoria! Thanks for sharing this build, I used it as my first one ever and I really like it.
Since rank 10 is being added soon, what are your suggestions? Even if they might change something about Shadow C3 until the official patch will be released, I am courrently thinking about going for Sorc C2, Link C2 or Wiz C3 instead of Shadow C3.
I'm not an expert at all and I was also wandering about choosing a completely new class that maybe would deal more damage. What do you think about this?

Yeah like you said, It's kind of hard to say until we see more information about Rank 10 since a lot can change until its officially released on the korean servers. As for what we know right now, Circle 3 looks a little underwhelming but it could be worth going for more scaling on Shadow Thorn and Conjuration for all we know. Though I wouldn't go wizard 3 since it doesn't really offer much for the build, circle 3 is mostly for quick cast for slow casting skills like for elementalist.

I wouldnt worry too much about rank 10 right now since we'll MOST LIKELY get a rank reset or two when it comes out, imc seems pretty fair about giving them out for most big patches.

But I need a clarification about one of the important attributes to level up ASAP, particularly Lethargy: Strike Specialty. The condition says that I need to be Wizard Circle 3, however, your guide states that I should go Linker on Rank 3. How do I go about this? Should I skip getting Lethargy: Strike Specialty? If I wanted to use a similar build only instead of shadowmancer / sorcerer I would get thauma 3 with featherfoot 3. As thauma's skills are increasing better with SPR, featherfoot would get the good damage like shadow or there would already be be done with INT? Obs: Sorry my english
