The Fearless Leader (Tank / Damage / Utility) PvP / PvE / GvG

This is a public build.

Introduction
"He's the first one into the fray. He calls out orders, inspiring his allies. He strikes fear into the hearts of his foes, and leaves a trail of dead in his wake. He is your Fearless Leader."
First of all, there are a lot of good ways to build a Templar. But mostly it depends of your play-style. This build will be a Tank first and foremost, although it will have some amazing damage output, and amazing utility. You will be able to solo absurdly large pulls in a relatively quick fashion provided you carry SP Potions (or Firewood if you're cheap). Acquiring SP Potions is easy now that they are rewarded from questing and once you start to run low on your questing supply, they aren't very expensive because you have money coming in.
The logic behind the Attribute, Class, and Skill selection is as follows: Swordsman C1 and Peltasta C3 give you all the Skills you need to tank and kill at a steady pace. Yeah, you could go something else instead of Squire, but your rotation would get clunky, some moves would just go unused, and your utility would be minimal. With this build, you'll demolish monsters quickly, tank like a beast, and provide so much more utility to a group on the move. As a Templar, your goal is to lead, so build to lead and come prepared for any eventuality.
Your Stats
The Short Version
Type A - Wellrounded: 1 STR / 1 CON / 1 DEX
This build will provide the most well-rounded statistics and is probably the most suited for new players that are striving to be a Guildmaster.
Type B - Sustained Damage: 3 STR / 2 CON / 3 DEX
This build will provide more damage output than the previous build, but you will need to be very familiar with how to work your Skills to optimize survivability and damage mitigation. This is an intermediate build. This build is not for beginners.
Type C - Burst and Evasion: 1 STR / 1 CON / 2-3 DEX
This build will provide a higher Evasion and more Burst oriented damage output. If you prefer a little more raw damage mitigation with some occasional strings of crits, this is the build for you. This is a very advanced build, you will have to be exceptionally familiar with your Skills and how to chain them together to create effective combos. This build is not for beginners.
The Long Version
Type Z - Mathematics: 4 STR / 3 CON / 5 DEX
While this might seem like a weird ratio that is really difficult to work with, this build is built upon the Base Combat Formulas of the game to create a devastating effect.
Allow me to explain. First of all, if you use your Guard button (gained through an attribute at the Peltasta Master) it increases your Block by an absurd amount. With the Type Z ratio, you will have near perfect physical damage mitigation when you Guard. When you're not Guarding? You still have an absurd amount. Between your bonus evasion from Guardian: Evasion, bonus block from Shield Mastery: Block and Langort: Blocking, and your bonus physical defense from Guardian, Guard: Defense and High Guard: Increased Defense, you have so much physical damage mitigation it is unreal. It doesn't matter what armor you're wearing, physical damage is irrelevant if you just pop Swashbuckling and then hold Guard until everything runs up and then unload.
Magic is your only real weakness, and as it becomes more prevalent at higher levels, you'll notice that you benefit more from the magic defense from Cloth Mastery: Magic. So you wear cloth armor in most scenarios, although it doesn't hurt to have multiple gear sets for different applications.
Full CON Builds
You will hear a lot of people talk about full CON Builds when it comes to Tanking. It is incredibly viable for party-play. It is also equally incredible how painful it is to solo with, doesn't yield enough Accuracy to hit a lot of Archer builds in PvP, and if you understand how to work your Guard button it doesn't offer much more survivability save against monsters that use magic, but as we discussed, you can even that out by swapping armor types. Use a full CON build only if you have a lot of people online all the time to help you out. As most of my Guild Members have jobs and families, this kind of build is not practical or fun for my play-style.
Skills, Combinations and Rotations
Notes on Skills
Maintain all your buffs, Weapon Maintenance, Guardian, etc at all times. You can, you should.
This build has insane utility. Weapon Maintenance, Base Camp, Repair, Refreshment Table, Warps, Summons, and a nice Aura. With a group, you basically roll into an area and setup shop. A shop that sells death for free. And the best part, you can Repair as long as you carry the Materials so you never have to go back to town if you don't want to.
Invest in Attributes for your Skills! The Attributes for Umbo Blow and Rim Blow alone increase their damage by 250% + 20% per Attribute level while High Guard is Active, giving you the ability to retain a lot of your damage when you pop your defensive cooldowns. And the Defensive Attributes mentioned above are essential.
Skill Point Allocation
Swordsman
Thrust 2 / 5 - Extra points, extra damage.
Bash 3 / 5 - Go to 3 for the Attribute.
Gung Ho 0 / 5 - Counter-intuitive to tanking, nope.
Concentrate 5 / 5 - Nice buff, solid up time.
Pain Barrier 5 / 5 - Nice for bosses, nice for PvP.
Peltasta
Umbo Blow 10 / 15 - Nice damage, epic attribute.
Rim Blow 6 / 15 - Take it to 6 for the wicked attribute.
Swashbuckling 15 / 15 - Groups will love you. Pulls everything. Be careful.
Guardian 1 / 15 - Okay buff, attribute makes it amazing.
Shield Lob 1 / 10 - Highly situational, be careful with it.
High Guard 3 / 10 - 3 points for the attribute.
Butterfly 5 / 5 - Your main damage skill. So sick.
Umbo Thrust 1 / 5 - Nice debuff, but we can get damage elsewhere.
Langort 3 / 5 - Your secondary damage skill. Nice utility in PvP versus any build that uses melee attacks.
Squire
Arrest 4 / 10 - Description
Weapon Maintenance 10 / 10 - Nice buff, even nicer money maker.
Repair 10 / 10 - Repair on the go, pads your gear so it wears out more slowly, win.
Armor Maintenance 0 / 10 - Time consuming, not really worth it.
Base Camp 1 / 5 - Awesome once you understand how it works and how to min-max the use of it.
Refreshment Table 5 / 5 - Amazing buffs for your party.
Templar
Summon Guild Member 5 / 5 - Useful.
Warp to Guild Member 1 / 1 - Useful.
Build Guild Tower 5 / 5 - Why would you not?
Reduce Craft Time 0 / 5 - Who is complaining about crafting time?!
Battle Orders 4 / 5 - Nice buff for our left over points.
Combinations
The Boss Smasher
Gather with Swashbuckling, hold Guard until they group up.
Umbo Thrust ➤ Butterfly x2 ➤ Langort ➤ Umbo Thrust ➤ High Guard ➤ Umbo Blow x2 ➤ Rim Blow x2 ➤ Bash x3 ➤ Thrust Spam
(Skip Bash x3 if Enemies are weak to Piercing Damage)
This is your main damage combo, it will decimate bosses and obliterate swarms of monsters. It keeps them stripped of armor and gets out your highest damage moves before your damage drops from High Guard. When you do activate High Guard you have just reapplied the armor reduction and you retain most of your damage.
Preparation
Do this before attacking bosses and pulling huge groups.
Guardian ➤ Pain Barrier ➤ Concentrate
Guardian should be active at all times when you are fighting things, and Concentrate should be used on Cooldown.
This gets you buffed up and ready to fight. You will have your defense and evasion benefits, your bonus damage, and be immune to knockback, knockdown, and stagger effects.
Knockdown Chain
Do not spam your moves, use a skill, move to the target(s), use a skill, etc.
Umbo Blow x2 ➤ Bash x3 ➤ Rim Blow x2
Positioning is key to get the full benefits of this combo.
This will knock a target around so much, and if you wait right until they are getting up on the knockdowns, you can almost, almost chain it indefinitely.
