Sword and pistol (outdated)

Update: Corsair3 has no place in r9 so i am closing this build down. Unfortunately pillage is not as good as it was in R8 so its better off going for a swell build or a build that can clear the room fast.


PvP update: This build is still solid in PvP but keep in mind that you are playing as a glass cannon. Use your katon stealth to sneak up on people and iron hook/pistol shot. Also PvP is heavily gear reliant so make sure you are quite geared when you are going into PvP. At least have a good pistol and 1h wep.


This is a versatile build that focuses on 1h wep + pistol and works in both PvE and PvP. It has high burst from double slash + kunai + clones and CC from corsair3. It does decently in farming as well as corsair allows pillaging from jolly roger.

Rank 4 choice:

You can pick rod1,hop1,bar 1 for your r4.

Rod1: best for PvP. Shield charge pushes clerics out of safety zone and montano is a great cc with 2 overheat and almost no delay. Requires weapon swap for shield charge. Lv 1 montana and level 1 shield charge. Rest don't matter.

Hop1: mainly taken for spear usage. Pretty weak but if you want a spear then it works fine. You also get synchro thrusting for your clones but it requires a shield. Its weaker in pve compared to barb1 but stronger than rod1 for pve. Finestra is always a great addition. Keep in mind that if you want your clones to copy synchro thrusting then you must be equipping a shield before you summon your clones. Lv5 finetra, Lv5 synchro thrusting. Lv1 stabbing. Lv4 pierce

Barb1: best PvE and better than hop1 in PvP. Cleave debuff to make double slash even stronger. Helm chopper stun is good for PvP.


Str vs Dex vs con?

I did several testing using full Dex, full con and full strength.


Dex by far is the weakest stat. The attack speed is pretty insignificant and crit attack is useless as it's so hard to crit now. Also attack speed never has affected dwa and even if it did, dwa would still suck. Hence the lv 1 dwa. There is a synergy with clones and auto attacking but 100 Dex is enough. You do need Dex in TBL though for block pen. People are starting to go high block builds so I am going to emphasize more on dex now for block pen.

Full con has almost the same damage output as full Dex... Well instead of attack speed you get a lot of hp. At full con I managed 105k HP from 45k. I would trade all that attack speed for that hp any day. High con is the preferred stat for PvP.

Full strength. At first I was skeptical of strength being good but Dex is so useless that str is the best offensive option. High Str is the preferred PvE stat.

So how should you use your stat points ?

For every 15 total dex you have, you will gain some attack speed so increase your dex by increments of 15.


PVP: 50 str, 210 Dex, rest con. You can also go full dex for maximum pen.
Pve: 150 Dex, rest strength.

Gungho vs Concentrate?

Concentrate is better for pvp.
Gungho is better than concentrate for damage, but Gungho reveals you when you are stealth in TBL! Do not ever use gungho skill in PvP.

Keep in mind that shinobi clones do not use self buffs with exception of glass mole!

Don't plan on PvPing?

You could just leave iron hook at lv 1 and max dust devil. Put the remaining points into jolly roger/max dust devil but this is a crime imo. Iron hook is love. Iron hook is life.

Equipment + gems:

If you can get leather lolopanther/solmiki then it is better than all of this for PvE. Don't bother trying to farm lolo if you don't have it already, just go for solmiki. For PvP you want 1 solmiki cloth top, 3 solmiki plate armor.

Top: Nyx knight armor (lv170). Yellow gem.
Bottom: Nyx knight pants (lv170). Yellow gem
Gloves: Devhlin gauntlet (Lv 270, increase slash dmg on plate) or bone gauntlet for block pen. Yellow gem for block pen.
Shoes: Superior Greytis greaves. (Lv 220). Blue gem
Accessory: Frieno necklace. If you can't get then Max petamion
Bracelet:
-PVE: 2 sissel bracelets (for double slash)
-PVP: 2 Glass bracelets

Weapon:
Purine Pevordimas Sword with 4 socket is the best non solmiki/lolopanther sword you can get right now, but getting that is harder than getting abdochar. If you can't do that then go for a regular pevordimas Sword with 4 socket.

Next in line is abdochar/pierene sword. I really like pierene sword for the mdef and so that would be my main weapon for PvP. IF you are hop1 then wingshard is great/strongest 1h weapon.

Other PvP weapons:
Catacombs blade: Block pen for PvP
Durandal: Low ptk and +2 swordsman skill.
Fyringy/harvester: Negative magic atk to counter malleus.

Put red gems into your main weapon weapon. Green gems are never better sadly.

Subweapon:

Aspana revolver is best in slot(better than sol miki until +11 trans10 and higher). If you can't afford it then go for the 315 hunting ground pistol. Manamana isn't that good anymore unless you get +16 or higher.

Red gems for the raw p.atk

Card:

PvE: 3 glass mole, 3 nuaele, 3 nether bovine, purple slot undecided since we got sword3
PvP: 3 glass mole, ,3 nuaele ,3 ellaganos, 3 dullahan

Recommended: Glass mole for bursting in both pve and pvp

Attributes:

Listed in order of importance. Max all non damage passives.

1. Double slash. Get everything to 50 then 100% this attribute.
2. Kunai
3. Pistol shot
4. Hexen dropper
5. Dust devil

If you are hop1 and utilize synchro thrusting then it would be in the #3 position.

Nope. Its for cleave slash debuff. Most of your burst is from double slash not kunai.

hoplite1 is not too good because you cant use synchro thrusting without a pistol. IF you could then I'd suggest it instead. All you get from hop1 is spear usage and finestra which cleave beats in both

It is not necessary but i recommend at least 90 dex. It speeds up your double slash, hexendropper, dust devil quite significantly. The main one being dust devil as the animation is pretty slow.

No, accuracy is not an issue due to the multi hit nature of corsair and shinobi. They might dodge say 50% of your attack but that other 50% will kill them. It would be a different story if you are a murmillo. All of your skills only hit once and if it misses you are screwed.

Do not ignore bash lvl3. Gungho late game doesn't really provide much as most of your damage comes from your weapon. If you really want to save points though, you can get bash lv3. Buy attribute. Skill reset and get bash lv 1. You will keep the knockback attr.

This is not the best 1h sword build. This build Is the best for corsair3 which is pretty much a jack of all trades. It can farm, pvp, pve, et "decently", boss.

1. Why do you list bash as being 3/5? I'm working through this guide, and I had enough points to put 5 each into Bash, Gung Ho and Pain Barrier.

2. I don't understand the Dex chart at all. I'm doing a full Str build, so, so far I've put all of my points into Str. If I need to put any points into Dex (You do mention you need 90 Dex.) When should I do that? The chart doesn't really make it clear,

I'm PvE only. No interest in PvP. Thanks in advance for any answers you can give me.

1. Bash is only level 3 for the knockdown attribute. If you are going to PvP then you want bash to be as weak as possible which is lv3. Too much damage will kill you in PvP due to kabbalist's Revenged 7 folds skill.For PvE you can max it for clone damage filler.
2. Basically ATK speed gained from dex is not increased point by point. It operates by tiers/thresholds. Lets say you are at 88 dex. Your atk speed will be 1.9 atk/second(according to chart). If you put in 1 more point into dex then your atk speed will not increase. Only when you reach 90 or certain thresholds, listed by the chart, will your atk speed improve from 1.9 to 1.98ish (the next tier). The chart is for reference as dex is all preference. I like 90 dex and also keep in mind that some skills and your basic attacks are affected by attack speed. This skills that are affected by attack speed in this build are double slash, hexendropper, dust devil.

You can add the dex whenever you want but when you do. Check the attack speed of dust devil before and after. Its quite significant.

So its up to you what you want. You have to pick what you want to trade off . Its either raw power(str) or faster cast time(dex).

Oops just read your correction.

as stated above you only want 1 in montano and 1 into shield charge. You won't be using any of the other skills so... I'd just leave the points undistributed. You can also get 1 into shield shoving for interrupting casts but i find that restrain or bash does the job. Make sure you keep montano/shield charge lowest damage possible to fight kabbas

I'd suggest barb because you need gear. The core build itself is good in pvp but rodelero makes it better. Same with the con. I actually don't pvp with con and i do fine but im 100% certain that if you get con it would be better. You'll be fine whichever stat you do as long as you play smart. Keep in mind going con-less is pretty much glass cannon (which i do)

If PvP, get concentate. If Pve get gungho. Gungho is scales better into the game, but it reveals you in PvP. Honestly i don't even use concentrate or gungho in PvP. Your damage will be enough for it not to matter.
