Hoplite3-Lancer
Lancer is a 2H spear class who uses hard hitting skills such as Crush and Quintain, and when combined with Hoplite's Finestra, is able to crit for quite a decent amount. Block from Finestra and Swordsman's naturally high HP pool gives this build great durability as well, making it a very well rounded class who even gets mobilty from mount.
Stat Distribution:
Full STR. We want to maximise our hardest hitting skills as much as possible.
Skill explanation:
Swordsman
Gung Ho: Boosts our physical attack in exchange for a slightly lowered physical defence. Scales on STR, we take this because many of our skills have high modifiers thus making it extremely efficient.
Concentrate: Flat damage boost per hit. We don't want to spare too many points here since it scales more so on DEX than STR, and we're taking high STR.
Pain Barrier: Extremely useful skill that allows us to chain our combo without the fear of getting knocked back to Mars. We max this for maximum possible uptime.
Restrain: Has a chance of stunning enemies when attacking. Very uesful in PvP, has uses in PvE especially when combined with multi hit skills such as Dragontooth and Serpentine.
Double Slash: Scales extremely well to late game due to crit attribute as well bleed attribute on Pierce and Serpentine.
Hoplite
Pierce: This will be your main damage skill until r7-8.
Finestra: The most important skill in Hoplite tree. Gains critical rate and block in exchange for evasion, which is minimal to say the most.
Spear Lunge: Our very own Pierce debuff. Makes enemies vulnerable to pierce type attacks, thus opening up combos with serpentine, pierce and crush-quintain.
Stabbing: Filler skill. You may put the 5 points from here to spear throw if you feel that you would prefer more AoE.
Dragoon
Despite being a nerfed class, it is still the most compartible r7 class before taking lancer at r8.
Dragontooth: Decent damage with multihit, the only downfall is its need for it to be charged.
Serpentine: Dragoon's main damage skill. Multi hit attack with decent modifier.
Gae Bulg: A more supportive skill, with a decent modifier. Benefits your party through attributes, and physical attack vulnerability allows your other physical DPS to do more damage,
Dragon Soar: More used for its knock up than anything else. 1 pointer.
Lancer
Crush: One of our hardest hitting spells. With 2OH we can deal tremedous damage, especially when followed up with Quintain.
Joust: 1 point for magic circle removal and PvP usage.
Unhorsing: Decent modifier. More for fighting against other mount-classes in PvP.
Quintain: Our next hardest hitting skill with 2OH. When combined with Crush, deals tremendous damage.
Gear options:
Any 1H spear of your level range + Arde dagger/Small Crystaras until...
lvl 270: You will hit r8 lancer at around this lvl range. Change to HG 2H spear here.
lvl 315: Regard Horn Pike. Our weapon of choice for end game. Solid damage and provides some crit rate and attack.
Lvl 330: Solmiki Pike. Our ultimate end game weapon of choice. More damage than regard horn pike.
Armor
Cafrisun set until...
Lvl 170: Nyx Knight Set (for more sturdiness) or Eaglestar Leather Set (for more damage)
Take any HG armor set in your level range once you start feeling that you are taking more damage than you would like. Plate set gives better defence and leather set gives more damage - both are perfectly valid choices.
Accessory:
Phada - for more phyical attack and crit attack
Sissel bracelet - if you wish to push your crit attack EVEN further than what finestra already gives you
Max Petamion - overall stat boost
Headgear: Look out for physical attack, crit attack and HP.
Gem
Main hand:
Red Gem - more overall damage
Yellow Gem - more crit attack to supplement finestra
Green Gem - if you really want to go overboard with crit rate
Top and bottom:
We get enough block from finestra, so we want to take Red Gem here since most physical attacks will have to get through block first, thus rendering physical defence from yellow gem less useful.
Boots:
Blue gem - for more magic defence
You can take skill gem here such as Groll Gem (Pierce) here too.
Gloves:
Both yellow gem (block pen) and green gem (accuracy) works here.
Skill gems such as Chafperor Gem (Finestra) can also be taken.
