Introduction
So you want to be a Fencer? Welcome to the best Fencer build currently out. Without further ado, read ahead, or skip to the tldr;

So what are Fencers? They're a class with very good offense and defense. They benefit a lot from adding DEX, and deal incredible damage over time. They lack CC and are weak to magic in PvP, since it cannot be dodged. They can choose to equip a shield and tank, or deal incredible damage with just a Rapier.

Stat Allocation
Your stat allocation will depend on whether you want to mainly do PvE or PvP. The only three stats you will ever add are STR, CON and DEX, in different ratios.

If you want to focus on PvE, I recommend around 4-5 STR to 2 DEX. You could add in some CON as well if you wanted to take on a Tank role in dungeons.

If you want to do more PvP, I'd recommend more DEX and CON. An even ratio of 1 STR to 1 DEX to 1 CON might seem odd, but its a good baseline for a PvP Fencer. If you want to dodge more, add more DEX. If you want to combat mages easier, add more CON.

Just remember that nothing is set in stone, and there is a lot of freedom with your Stat Allocation! So just follow the general guidelines and don't worry!

Main Skill Breakdown
Basic info about some of your main skills. I haven't included skills there that aren't taken or aren't important.

Pain Barrier
Makes you immune to knockdowns. Incredible for PvP, used in PvE to get your damage combo off.

Guardian
Gives +18% Evasion with an attribute, which is why its a single-pointer. Doesn't require a shield to be used, but cant be stacked with Gung Ho.

Helm Chopper
This skill actually hits twice, meaning it has effectively double its described damage. Best source of Strike damage you get.

Cleave
Good slash DPS, grats crit rate and deals double damage to stunned enemies (hit by Helm Chopper or Seism)

Seism
Pretty straightforward, Huge AOE slash damage w/overheat and a short CD.

Lunge
Great damage and raises your evasion too, meaning its good to use before a boss attacks. It raises your slash damage, which means great synergy with Seism and Cleave.

Sept Etoiles
Huge damage :). Nothing to see here, just a raw DPS move.

Attaque Coquille
Use it for the defense nullification. Great when used with Preparation.

Flanconnade
0 CD skill, this is essentially an upgraded basic attack, but since its Slash type, it can hit stuff harder than your Pierce damage on Cloth targets, so its worth a point.

Preparation
Gives you really high burst damage, and increases block rate a ton. This ability is amazing in PvP and PvE alike!

Optional Adjustments
No build is set in stone, so here is a list of optional things you can do that might better suit your character/purposes. You'll have to tradeoff something to get any of these, however.

R2/R3 Highlander (For better Strike DPS)
You can sacrifice Peltasta or a rank in Barbarian for Highlander, to gain access to the uber-powerful Cartar Stroke. Sacrificing Peltasta will mean you can't tank, and sacrificing Barbarian will lower the damage of your Barb skills. Cartar Stroke scales very well though, and will be a huge source of damage for you.

Warcry > Cleave (For better burst DPS)
The main reason we leave Warcry alone is because it's difficult to use effectively: The range is very small, and it has poor uptime. However, while Cleave is definitely good, it is outclassed by Seism and might fall off your rotation by the time you're a Fencer. Instead, you can opt for Warcry, which is capable of giving a large (300ish) increase in damage for a short time.

Bash > Concentrate (For PvP)
Fencers are short on knockdowns, so if you're lacking CC, it can be a nice option for you. Sacrificing Concentrate isn't a big deal, and of all the listed optionals, this one is probably the most recommended.

Rodelero C4/C5 (For PvP)
Rodelero's come packed with CC and are in a lot of ways, better suited to PvP than Barbarians. Doing this will lock you into using a Shield though, and is definitely not recommended for PvE players.

About Attributes
Some attributes are useless, but some are really important, so I'll outline which ones you should be focusing on. Prioritization is up to you, but generally speaking, attributes from a higher rank always take priority.

A note about active skill enhancements: They cap at Lv100, and each point adds 1% to the damage of the skill. Don't worry about these until at least rank 4-5, where you get some skills worth enhancing (Such as Seism and Helm Chopper). They get ridiculously expensive, but try to have at least Lv20 in your main offensive skills (Cleave, Helm Chopper, Seism, Lunge, Sept Etoiles)

Leather Mastery: Dexterity
Caps at level 50, and increases your Evasion. If you plan on doing a lot of tanking, instead opt for Plate Mastery. One of your highest priorities.

Gung Ho: Enhance
This caps out at level 50, giving you an additional 50 damage. Don't be put off by the DEF reduction, this is worth it. Cheap and one of your highest priorities.

Concentrate: Enhance
Not as important, but still helps concentrate stay relevant in terms of damage.

Provoke
Very important for tanking, this means you'll hold aggro a lot easier on bosses.

Shield Guard
Get this the moment you hit C2. Lets you press C which increases your block rate by a ridiculously high amount, making you nearly invincible. This is what gives you the ability to tank things.

Shield Mastery: Block
+25% Block for free. Nice.

Guard: Defense
+50% Phys DEF while you're actively blocking. Nice.

Swash Buckling: Maximum HP
This gives you +25% MaxHP for 30 seconds after you've used Swashbuckling. Since the skill's CD is only 20s, you can effectively have this up all the time. Only useful when you have a healer, but generally amazing.

Use Two-handed Swords
Once you hit Barbarian, start using 2H swords as your main weapon. They'll greatly increase your damage and make leveling quicker.

Frenzy: Maintain Stacks
This might seem bad, but in reality, you'll find it hard to keep the stacks up when most bosses summon hordes of minions. It also means you can use this on regular mobs effectively.

Use Rapiers
Duh! Just don't forget to get this after you advance to Fencer...

Rapier Mastery: Aggression
Your 1st priority after reaching Fencer, as this will give you a large free damage boost to all your pierce skills. Still works with a Dagger equipped, just not a Shield.

Fencer Gear
As a general rule, you'll be equipping Leather Armour. Try and level the attribute as high as you can, as it increases your Dodge rate a lot! Some nice free/cheap items for you as you level are the Nepenthes Gloves, Strength Pendant, Bearkaras Bracelet, and Crystal Bangle. Those items will give nice little boosts in damage.

There are a few endgame items you want as a Fencer. They're expensive, but should be the final objectives to maximise your character's potential. (excluding Lolopanther gear). This section is likely to change a lot.

Venier, Sissel Bracelets, Max Petamion, Vubbe Fighter Gauntlet, Sage Wall, Roxona Leather armour and Headgear with Atk enchants.

Leveling Guide
This is a really cookie-cutter guide, and there are much more in-depth ones out there. But it'll give you a general idea of what to do.

What's really important about your leveling is that you learn how to save cards. By default you should save all your cards, and only use them to reach a new "tier" such as a new dungeon, class rank or grinding area.

If you get stuck!
Due to varying factors, its possible to get stuck at certain levels with no quests, dungeons or good grinding spots. When this happens, you need to dig deep and procure every single exp point you can. The best way to do this is through the Wings of Vibora, detailed below, as well as the Daily missions from lv100 onwards.

Wings of Vibora
There is an NPC (in Klaipeda, directly right of the Goddess statue) who will award appropriate-leveled EXP cards if you fully explore a map or kill a certain amount of mobs (unique to each mob). You can see the required amount in your adventure journal. She awards 1 card for killing X mob, and 3 for each fully explored map. So you should at the very least try to explore every map!

1 - 30:
Quest from start to Tenet Garden. Don't bother saving cards at these levels.

30 - 40:
Grind at Tenet Garden (Should take 2-3 hours). Can stay here till R3.

40 - 65:
Quest from Tenet Chapel to Akmens Ridge. Do the level 50 Dungeon as much as you can, it's wonderful exp. From now on, do your daily dungeon runs of whatever dungeon is the highest level.

65 - 80:
Quest up to Royal Mausoleum, and if you aren't 80, do Orsha Quests until you reach R4.

80 - 90:
Quest through the royal mausoleum. It's worth using exp cards to reach 90, as the Lv90 dungeon is very good exp, and can drop the arde dagger. Don't forget about the few questing areas 80-90 just north of Klaipeda!

90 - 115:
Quest up to the Mage Tower, fill with some Orsha Quests, Do the Lv90 Dungeon. At lv100 you unlock Fedimian Missions that scale with your level and have limited entries per day. The 1st one is the best EXP. From now on, do your daily Missions. You can also do daily quests for EXP cards.

115 - 130:
Quest through the Mage Tower and past Fedimian up to the "Main Chamber" map. Do the Lv115 Dungeon. Don't forget about the Owl Forest maps just north of Tenet Garden (Lv106-123)

130 - 145:
Do the Lv130 Dungeon. You can pop some exp cards to hit Lv136, when the EXP Curve resets, and quickly fly to 145. Start trying to save EXP cards from 137 onwards.

145 - 155:
Do the Lv145 Dungeon, its the last good one till level 190. Quest through the Royal Cathedral and the Demon Prison, and up to Dina Bee Farm. Save all the EXP cards you can.

155 - 165:
The best way to Level through here is grinding at Dina Bee Farm. It's around 2 hours/Lv, so you can knock it out in a few solid days. The 160 Dungeon dosen't offer good exp. Remember to do your daily missions!

165 - 190:
You can pop your (hopefully) mountain of EXP cards anytime after 160, but I recommend 165 since you'll still get good EXP from Dina Bee Farm. Quest up to Mokusul Chamber and try to hit 190 for the Dungeon. There's a lot of quests here, if you did good time at Dina Bee Farm, you'll fly through!

190 - 217
Do the Lv190 Dungeon and heap of quests. This part is really straightforward! Some questing areas can get a little tough, with mobs beginning to gain absurd amounts of HP. Everyone is in the same boat though!

217 - 240:
The 217 Dungeon awaits, as well as Alemeth Forest, a good grinding area. You don't have to level here, but doing so will help to boost your character. You can start Alemeth at around Lv211, but you'll take HUGE (6k Crit) damage from the mobs, so unless you have a lot of CON, it might not be a good idea.

240 - 280:
Here is where the guide runs off the rails, as I'm not yet level 240. There is a 240 Dungeon though, and seemingly many places to grind once the quests run out.

Anyway that just about wraps it up. Hope you enjoyed it!

Hi. I just want to make things clear. You said 4-5 STR to 2 DEX.
Does this mean I should put 4-5 points in Str first then 2 in Dex? Like this 4-5str : 2dex?

Thanks in advance!

It would be better go Swordsman C2>Peltasta C1 or Swordsman C1> Swordsman C2, since i want to use, later on, Venier + Karacha Dagger/Venom? And how would be the stat distribution, for example (4:2:1:1/DEX:STR:CON:SPR)

I mean Swordsman C1> Peltasta C1 **

@Hakuho sw c2 is better for early leveling and 2v2 league (more concent + restrain)... peltasta c1 is better for finding grind party on higher level (swash) guardian will be usefull in higher lvl (high dex build only) league 5v5 and GVG (20% hp from swash)

Try to add pouncing at least 1-5 points. It deals topnotch damage if you land all hits to targets which can easily be achieved if you are going vs a boss.

@lothurthievy the thing why we go for pelstasta is for guardian passive +18%eva when it actives, second pelsta c2 can actually benefit u a lot with swash bulking for ez farming, dungeons and umbo blow passive knockback is awsome, third u might not gonna ez finding a good grinding party at higher lvl if u go for other cla ss or c2.End

I was wondering, right now i'm swordman c1 and peltasta c1, i want a Fencer for pvp and im reading that Rodelero c4&5 is better for pvp,so the build would look something like

Swordman C1> Peltasta C1> ????? > Rodelero C1> C2> Fencer C1> Fencer C2?

What class can i use in the ??? spot? and what skills u recomend for rodelero? im kinda newbie with swordman classes and i want this fencer to pvp so hard.

@Ceejhay Str at first doesnt mean a single damage boost at first, why if u input max dex from lv 1-80 u will be able to farm reallly well and also dungeon. No need more than 10k silver to buy hp pot and u won't be using them recently thoi bought 30 lv 10 pot at lv 70 and to lv 80 only use 1 cus i dodged like 90% .U can go for str later don't worry

Hey, sorry about the absence. Thanks all for continued support of the build, every like helps it get more views and makes it less likely for players to check out bad builds.

@iVicent 4-5 STR to 2 DEX. So for every 2 points in DEX, you invest 1 in STR.

@Kylvadrom Yeah thats ok. Warcry is actually pretty good and you can take it over Frenzy if you want.

@talexzth If you want to mix PvP and PvE you should try 3:2:2. High DEX is nice but you'll get plenty of Dodge with leather armour. You can grab items like the Sissel Bracelet to increase your DEX.

Don't go swordsman 2. If you want to go Rapier + Dagger, still get Peltasta. That way you have the option to tank when required and will be much more useful in the lategame. I don't think daggers will add any significant damage, but I'm not 100% sure about this.

@misericordia00 That sounds fine for a mix of both. You could also try 3:2:2 if you want more health (never a bad idea)

Hi I just started and I'm at about level 35. I've been following your build, and I'm currently c2 Peltasta in level 11 or 12. I'm confused about your guide partly because I don't see an option to level shield guard? Could you explain that part to me?
Reply

@misericordia00 Go to the Peltasta master. There should be an attribute you can learn to activate shield guard by pressing "c" when you're equipped with a shield.

Definitely 3str 2dex. High DEX is certainly ok, there's gear like the Gladiator Bracelet that is really good for builds with a slightly higher DEX.

@canecm You'll do less damage than a mixed one. It might be better if you could dodge magic attacks, but since you can't, it's not good. I wouldn't advise getting any less STR than 1:1 STR:DEX.
